Course Description

Aim

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management teaches how to carry out fire risk assessments and identify the range of measures needed to minimise the risk of fire. It helps holders manage risk more effectively and is ideal for:

  • Managers, supervisors and employee representatives
  • Those with fire safety responsibilities at work
  • Those looking to take on fire-safety advisory roles

The NEBOSH Fire Certificate is widely respected by employers and meets the requirements for Technician Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH) and Associate Membership of IIRSM (AIIRSM)

Course Content

The NEBOSH National Fire Certificate is made up of three units:

Unit NGC1: Management of Health and Safety

  • Do
  • Check
  • Act

Unit FC1: Fire Safety and Risk Management

  • Managing Fire Safety
  • Principles of Fire and Explosion
  • Causes and Prevention of Fires and Explosions
  • Fire Protection in Buildings
  • Safety of People in the Event of a Fire
  • Fire Safety Risk Assessment

Unit NFC2: Fire Safety Practical Application

  • Work based practical assessment

Assessment

Units NGC1 and NFC1 of the NEBOSH National Certificate are each assessed by a
two-hour written examinations. Unit NFC2 is assessed by a practical assessment
carried out at a workplace.

Exemptions

If you have been awarded the NEBOSH National General or Construction
Certificate in the last 5 years you will be exempt from Unit NGC1 and can simply
‘top up’ by completing Unit NFC1 and the practical assessment (Unit NFC2).

Cancellations

Refunds of fees will only be made for written cancellations received at least 21 days prior to the start of the course (less a 10% cancellation fee to cover administration costs). However, we are happy to accept substitute delegates. Any changes to delegates should be notified, by telephone, as soon as possible.Bookings that are accepted within 48 hours are deemed confirmed and subject to payment, even if the delegate is subsequently unable to attend.
