Course Description

The IRCA QMS Lead Auditor 5-day course is designed for management system auditors. It is a challenging course that will equip you with the planning skills to lead an audit team, carry out complex supplier audits, external 3rd party audits and deliver accurate, defensible and value-adding audit reports.
This course has a strong process and continual improvement bias, suitable for those of you who are interested in auditing to establish the overall capability of the management system to sustain and improve its performance.
The course has been adapted to take into consideration the release of ISO 9001:2015

What does IRCA certification mean?

This course satisfies the training requirements for anyone that wishes to register to any grade of the IRCA’s QMS Auditor Scheme.
The IRCA is the lead body worldwide for recognising management systems auditing courses. That means that virtually any employer anywhere in the world will recognise your achievement.
In addition, as the IRCA is a subdivision of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), successful completion of the course also gives you access to CQI membership at Practitioner (PCQI) Grade

What you will learn

You will learn how to plan, conduct, report and follow-up the results of audits.
You will learn how an auditor would expect to see the internal audit tool used as an integral component of the continual improvement process and appreciate the important relationships between auditing, operational efficiency and improvement planning.
The course will introduce you to “Plan – Do – Check – Act” methodology and help you to understand how this fundamental cornerstone of continual improvement should be inextricably linked to operational effectiveness.
The course will also introduce you to a range of different auditing situations and equip you with the ability to apply the right skills to the right context. This will include audits of internal procedures, audits to establish conformance to external standards and customer requirements, procedural audits, process audits and full systems audits including multi-site situations.
You will also learn what differentiates the “lead auditor” from audit team members and the additional skill set and disciplines required by the audit team leader

In the context of a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Party audit, the course covers the techniques and disciplines of:

Audit planning, including the construction and use of checklists
Performing the audit, including conducting interviews and following document trails, process auditing and procedural auditing
Audit report writing and feedback techniques
Following up the results of audits and how results should be used to drive continual improvement
Leading an audit team
