BSS holds conference in Qatar

On 24th November 2008, British Safety Services hosted a successful one-day health and safety conference in Doha, focussed on ‘Doing Dangerous Things Safely’. Co-sponsored by Enertech Aviation and Maritime Academy and Tasweeq, the event was also the official opening of the BSS Qatar training centre.

The conference attracted key speakers from across the world, including ex- England and British Lions rugby player Tim Stimpson, Stuart Naylor International Manager for NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), Ali Al Suwaidi, Executive Director from Imdaad, a Dubai World Company, and Richard Howson, Managing Director for Al Futtaim Carillion, MENA.

Other speakers included John McNaughton, ex Royal Navy submarine officer and ocean sailor, Pat McLoughlin, Managing Director of British Safety Services and Ann Goodwin of Win Marketing.

The conference attendees had the opportunity to hear from specialists in the industry and hear useful examples of international best practice to help them in their workplace. Topics covered on the day included a case study discussing the major factors that contribute to accidents at work, how to do dangerous things safely and still make a profit, communicating effectively and conducting dangerous activities safely.

Enertech Aviation & Maritime Academy is the Middle East‘s most advanced and state-of-the-art training facility using METS (Modular Egress Training Simulator) & SWET (Shallow Water Egress Trainer) and delegates attending the conference had the opportunity to see the unique helicopter underwater escape demonstration.
