Karen is a comparative newcomer to sailing, discovering her passion in the field just five years ago. She has progressed through sailing dinghies and crewing R19’s, sailing out of Poole Yacht club in the Solent region. The desire to sail something bigger (preferably with a kettle on board) brought her into the area of cruiser sailing and racing and with that the opportunity to crew aboard Pink Panther.
Karen’s academic background – showing a keen thirst for knowledge and learning in any form –lead her to a PhD. Dr Pendlebury is a keen geologist and geochemist, with some law and business skills thrown in for good measure.
A graduate of Manchester Business School, her career spans the transport, energy, government and education sectors. She is currently Director of Student Recruitment and Marketing at the University of Winchester and is studying toward a NVQ 3 in wine tasting!
