For John, every day seems to be day one!
John learned to sail with the Navy and has managed a fairly diverse set of trips from passages across the Bay of Biscay to the delights of Caribbean racing and cruising. Most of his sailing takes place in the “theme park” that is the Solent and this Fastnet Campaign is a seriously good excuse to do high level offshore rather than the “round the cans” type of racing.
With a background Information Systems, Sailing is a hobby that gets him out of the Office Environment. Currently employed as a Management Consultant, the role involves a blend of skills such as strategic thinking, detailed implementation planning and managing factors such as risk. Some of which is useful when sailing with a team so closely involved in safety.
He has almost always lived by the sea and has considerable experience in boats of all shapes and sizes. This includes dinghies, powerboats and large yachts. Since qualifying as an Instructor and Examiner, He now helps others to share in these activities.
