Steve Burke

Steve Burke (46), co-founder of British Safety Services, has always enjoyed things that offer a bit more excitement in life. Over the years, Steve has scaled mountains, including Mount Blanc and Kinabalu, ice climbed, sea kayaked treacherous UK waters and parachuted, as well as some dangerous activities.

In the Fastnet Race, Steve sees much of his previous experiences being put to good use, being cold, wet and miserable for hours on end is certainly something not new to him, although is has been said that he does not need to go to sea to be miserable.

Steve has a daughter and son destined to follow in his footsteps, as he recently took Matthew, 4 and Laura 2, away for a spot of ‘adventure training’ in Wales, teaching them improvised shelter building and open fire cooking techniques!
